TIME-LAPSE BLOOMING OF PINCUSHION CACTUS

This time-lapse method took 3 weeks to sketch as well as 1100 photos. Of march we didn’t have to click a camera for each print – we built an electronic tool which took a photos automatically, once each fifteen minutes. Enjoy!

I love the hair! Lovely blooms. I just bought a similar one minus all the hair and i think it already flowered because nothing has happened to the little purple buds and its been over a week here at my home. Im upset i just missed the bloom… but i have another small one that i got my mom and it has 3 buds coming up and one of mine has a large white flower (the rest of the plant looks dead- bought it to try to save it)

    is that a fishhook cactus?

  17. sebyoung says:

how did you make the gadget to take the photos ? i would like to make one myself

  18. djacob7 says:

The cactus was growing in a small pot that was placed in a glass bowl. Once a week I would pour a little water into the bowl and the water would enter the cactus pot from the bottom.
What you see is the glass bowl getting wet after my watering.

You’re welcome! 1100 photos? amazing! I have one question, on the bowl, I see reflections and slow movements over time, you said the whole thing took 3 weeks, (!!!) so what is moving so slowly over that time?
Thank you again, fantastic, make more!
